Handi Quilter Sweet 16 with Stitch Regulated Table
The Sweet 16 is without doubt the best-selling sit-down longarm machine in the UK. It is well known for its quality, reliability, longevity and low maintenance.
And because it’s from Handi Quilter, it's a machine dedicated to free-motion quilting which will cope with many layers of fabric without problems. So if you are a fabric artist or fee-motion embroiderer this is also an excellent machine for you.
The owner of this machine has had it since 2022 and upgraded it with the stitch-regulated InSight table. Just move the fabric and get the same sized stitches - no need to worry about controlling the speed you are moving your quilt! This is a significant enhancement over the Sweet 16 machines without the upgrade.
The table is approximately 1 metre square so fits in even small spaces. But this example also comes with a side-extension that extends the table by 18”. This can be folded up or down as required to support your larger projects.

The Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen was a classic in the Handi Quilter range. It fits into even the smallest of rooms. Stitch regulation can be achieved through the TruStitch add-on. This helps the user maintain a regular stitch automatically when moving the quilt.
If you are a Textile Artist or a Free Motion Embroiderer you may prefer to work in manual mode. In that case the manual mode may be your preference. The foot lifts up to allow you to hoop your work. Alternative feet such as the Micro Foot allow you to work with excellent visibility of the needle. All of the Handi Quilter machines are excellent for being able to adjust and work with different threads. This is one of the aspects that we teach on the many courses and workshops that we offer. You can even use three threads through a single needle (with the addition of the optional Horizontal Spool Pin) and blend threads. It's exciting and fun to do!
Hand-winding unusual threads on the bobbin is also a possibility although it's not something we recommend for a beginner. So, if you are into experimental thread play and design then Handi Quilter is definitely the place to come to.
You can find some of our customers such as Jacqui Parkinson quilts huge textile panels on her Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen which she has had since 2012. Jacqui said "People need to know that you can do really large pieces on these sit-down machines".
And at the Houston Quilt Show in 2023 the key display quilt was Helen Godden's "My Australia" - a single piece 20 feet wide and 4 feet high, also quilted on her Sweet 16.
The machine has a 16" throat space and a footprint of just 3 feet x 3 feet for the table and machine (1 square metre). It can fit into even the most compact of sewing rooms.
Optional fold-down tables can be fitted to either or both sides of the table. They give an additional 18" of space at each side.
